What Tube Colour Does This Teaching Stethoscope Have?
The Teaching Stethoscope at Mentone Educational is made in a standard black colour; this makes the stethoscope blend easily with other stethoscopes in a medical environment such as a hospital and a doctor surgery.
What Makes This the Best Teaching Stethoscope?
Teaching stethoscopes require two binaurals; this enables the teacher and the student to listen simultaneously during a physical examination. Of course, the binaurals still have full functionality and comfort.
The binaurals on the Teaching Stethoscope has angled eartips, which align perfectly with the ear canals of the student and the teacher. Aligned eartips are important for every stethoscope. They make the stethoscope comfortable to wear for the clinician, but they also form an acoustic seal to reduce ambient noise and promote better acoustics transfer. Since these qualities are important for any clinician, they are certainly essential for teaching stethoscopes too.
What Are the Benefits of a Teaching Stethoscope with a Dual Head?
Dual headed stethoscopes have become a must for medical professionals, since they allow for more accurate and widespread physical examinations. To ensure this teaching stethoscope could be used for the heart, lungs, as well as bowels, it has been equipped with a dual head.
A dual headed stethoscope consists of a chestpiece with two sides. These two sides can vary depending on the type of stethoscope you buy. For some stethoscopes, one side will contain a standard diaphragm, while the other side contains an open bell. However, some stethoscopes consist of two special diaphragms on either side. So, if you need a stethoscope to use during specific physical examinations, always check the details on the chestpiece.
What Is the Difference Between a Dual Head and a Pressure-Sensitive Diaphragm?
As mentioned before, there are different types of stethoscopes with various chestpieces. While the teaching stethoscope contains a dual headed chestpiece, there are stethoscopes with a pressure-sensitive diaphragm too.
A pressure-sensitive diaphragm is quite different from a dual headed chestpiece, even though both can be used to render diagnosis for various medical problems. Opposed to the dual headed chestpiece, a chestpiece with a pressure-sensitive diaphragm does not have to be turned or rotated during an examination.
Clinicians who use a stethoscope with a pressure-sensitive diaphragm only need to adjust the pressure during an examination; this to make a distinction between high-frequency and low-frequency sounds. If the clinician wants to detect a low-frequency sound, then he must apply a light pressure on the chestpiece. However, if the medical professional wants to hear a high-frequency sound, he must apply a firmer pressure.
Naturally, not having to rotate a chestpiece during a physical examination can have its benefits. Still, such a chestpiece is not truly necessary for a teaching stethoscope, since it is easier to get familiar with low and high frequency sounds with a simpler chestpiece. Later, medical professionals can determine which chestpiece they prefer for their own practice.
What Is Special About the Tubing of This Teaching Stethoscope?
Since some medical professionals and patients have a sensitivity to latex, many stethoscope manufacturers are now avoiding using latex in their stethoscopes. The same applies to this Teaching Stethoscope, since the tubing is completely latex-free.
The Teaching Stethoscope available at Mentone Educational also has the appropriate tube length for teaching. When teacher and student must listen simultaneously, shorter tubing can certainly cause a hindrance. So, for teaching purposes, longer tubing allows for more flexibility and comfort.
What Are the Applications for Teaching Stethoscopes?
Teaching stethoscopes are commonly used for the training of medical professionals; this includes trainee nurses as well as doctors. It can be used for training in a hospital environment, but also in doctor surgeries, schools, or any other environment where medical professionals could receive their training.

Everything I expectedBy: Karmen Cheung on 18 May 2017I was very satisfied with this product. For the price I paid for, I find the standards highly acceptable. Does not come with a case to store the stethoscope in, only a cardboard box. Has been working a treat using it to teach nursing students with. Sound quality reasonable.
