Basic Buddy & Baby Buddy - Lung /Mouth Bags &  Insertion Tools

The one-piece, disposable lung/mouth protection system makes training with the Basic Buddy manikin completely sanitary there is no risk of cross contamination and no need to sanitize the manikins after use.

An insertion tool is used in combination with a manikin. It is used to insert lung bags into the manikin, which in turn provides a more realistic rise and fall of the manikin’s chest.

How to Supplement CPR Training with the Right Accessories?

A good training manikin can make all the difference for CPR training. That being said, there are a bunch of accessories that can contribute to the CPR classes you hold for your student. If you are not that familiar with the available accessories and their uses, please read the information provided by the Mentone Educational team below.

What Is the Face Shield and/or Lung Bag?

Face shields and lung bags are accessories you will encounter often at Mentone Educational. They are accessories commonly combined with CPR training manikins; this to add realism to CPR training as well as to keep the training manikins sanitary for each student.

Lung bags are inserted into a training manikin with a special insertion tool. Insertion tools are available separately, but they can also be present in our multipacks. Since insertion tools can be cleaned easily, most CPR instructors only need a couple for their entire CPR class.

What Is the AED Trainer?

Another accessory which instructors will encounter in our section with CPR training equipment is the AED trainer. AED is an abbreviation for automated external defibrillator, a device used to provide emergency care to a patient who has suffered from a sudden cardiac arrest. Since the correct use of this device with CPR can save someone’s life, many CPR instructors now incorporate this AED trainer into their regular classes.

During a CPR class with AED trainer, students will follow the audio or visual prompts provided by the trainer. The instructor can also demonstrate how the device needs to be combined with a CPR training manikin, ensuring your students are fully prepared for an emergency that requires the use of the AED trainer.

What Is a Casualty Simulation Kit?

The Casualty Simulation Kit consists of a series of reusable wounds and refillable accessories. The products inside the simulation kit can be used on training manikins and volunteers; this with the purpose of making CPR training more realistic.

Preparing students for shocking scenes is often necessary, especially students who are likely to encounter such scenes after their training. If a student has not enjoyed enough realistic preparation, it can cause them to freeze when an actual emergency occurs.

There are also some CPR training manikins that can provide a more realistic training experience. A prime example is the use of an infant training manikin, which can prepare students better for an emergency situation involving a child. Even though one could never fully prepare for an emergency situation involving children, incorporating the right equipment during CPR training can certainly increase the chances of an emergency responder acting quickly and efficiently.

What Are Simulated Medications?

Certain emergency medications may have to be applied in an emergency situation. Naturally, some of these medications require some skill, so it is not uncommon for simulated medications to be used in a CPR training class.

At Mentone Educational, instructors can acquire a range of simulated medications. We provide simulated medications from well-known manufacturers such as Pocket Nurse, a company who provides medical supplies meant for the education and simulation of medical professionals.

How Do I Choose the Right Accessories for My CPR Training?

Choosing the right accessories for CPR training is somewhat subject to the students you are teaching. For example, if you are teaching students who are likely to encounter emergencies involving infants, you will need the appropriate infant training manikins.

Do you have a question about one of the accessories available for CPR training? Or could you use some advice on the equipment you need for your classes? Feel free to contact our team via telephone or email.
